Tapas means heat and discipline in sanskrit. It is one of the niyamas of yoga. It is a practice of kindling the inner fire, like through the practice of yoga, and is a great way to try to think of cultivating a flame in terms of cultivating sexual energy is to edge without the height of release. In other words, to edge without cumming, like riding the waves of orgasmic energy without the cumshot. Practicing masturbation without releasing, slowing down and allowing energy to build can be considered tapas, transforming raw sexual impulses into a more refined, conscious energy.

Meditation

in Easy Pose (Sukhasana) and in a forward fold:

Feeling the rise and fall of your chest and belly against your thighs. Inhale deeply, imagine a warm, glowing fire at your navel. With each exhale, feel this heat gently spread through your body. As the warmth expands, notice the sensations on your skin—the air, or any contact with the ground. Feel the stretch along your back body, the grounding of your legs, and the gentle pull of gravity. Soften your gaze or close your eyes, notice the texture of mat. Tune into the sounds around you—the rhythm of your breath, distant noises, or the quiet of the space. Take in any scent from your skin, allow it to deepen your connection to the moment. Notice the taste in your mouth, perhaps the freshness or lack of freshness of your breath. Now let the heat heighten your awareness of these sensations. “I cultivate my inner fire to purify and transform.” Feel this intention fuel the warmth within you. Slowly bring your awareness back to your breath, allowing the internal heat to settle.
